Domodossola

In a hollow in the center of the ossolan valleys leaving the Lake Maggiore lies Domodossola, a little city which counts almost 20.000 inhabitants. Domodossola, Ossola’s political and geographical center, is a city with ancient origins which was founded in a pre-roman epoch. The characteristic city center keeps intact its medieval appearance still nowadays. The city-symbol is the Piazza del Mercato (“Marketplace”), that is distinguished by its irregular form and whose colonnades support the ancient manor-houses with balconies and loggias of the 15^th and 16^th century. Domodossola preserves an intense commercial life, which is made absolutely special by the traditional Saturday-market.
